The paintings

Is every painting really painted by hand?

Yes, every one. Our painters work with brush and palette knife on canvas or cotton paper. We never sell prints, and we never ‘hand-embellish’ a print.

Will my painting look exactly like the photo?

It will match the composition, palette and mood. Brushstrokes and small details will differ, because it is painted fresh for you. We send you a photo of your actual painting to approve before it ships.

Who are the painters?

Trained studio painters, each with a specialty such as oil landscapes or watercolor botanicals. Every painting is checked by a second painter.

Are the paintings signed?

Yes, each painting is signed on the front, in a corner, by the studio. Prefer no signature on the front? Tell us in the order notes.

What materials do you use?

Artist-grade oils on primed cotton canvas, and artist-grade watercolors on 300 gsm (140 lb) cold-press cotton paper. Oils are varnished; watercolors are matted in acid-free board.

Sizes and framing

How do I choose a size?

A painting or group should be about two thirds the width of the furniture below it. Our size guide draws each size to scale, and View in a room shows it on a wall.

What does gallery-wrapped mean?

The canvas is stretched around a 1.5 in deep wooden frame with the sides painted, so it looks finished without a frame and arrives ready to hang.

Do watercolors come framed?

Watercolors ship matted, ready for a standard frame. Choose the natural oak frame option to receive it framed behind glazing.

Can I order a custom size?

Often, yes. Write to us with the painting and the size you need, and we’ll confirm the price and timing.

Ordering and delivery

How long will my painting take?

About 10 business days to paint plus 5–9 in transit for most oils; watercolors are a little quicker. See shipping and delivery.

Is shipping really free?

Yes, free, insured and tracked on every painting.

Can I approve my painting before it ships?

Always. We email you a photo of the finished painting; reply to approve it or ask for one round of adjustments.

Do you ship internationally?

Yes, to most countries. Duties are shown at checkout where possible.

Returns

What if I don’t like it?

You have a 30-day home trial. Return it in the original packaging for a full refund. How returns work

What if it arrives damaged?

Send us a photo within 7 days and we’ll repaint or refund it.

Care

How do I clean an oil painting?

Dust it gently with a soft, dry brush. Never use water, cloths or cleaning products. See the care guide.

Where should I hang it?

Away from direct sun, radiators, fireplaces and bathrooms. Steady temperature and humidity keep paint and paper happy.

Commissions and trade

Can you paint my own photo?

Yes. Commissions start at $249 and include a sketch for your approval.

Do you work with interior designers?

We do. Our trade program offers trade pricing, samples and project support.
